      Announcements

      The top forum, for one-way broadcasts. Every student gets an email. Use this for anything time-sensitive or mandatory.

      Forums

      Create a "Weekly Discussion" forum to foster collaborative debate, separate from Announcements, two-way by design.

      Messaging

      The speech-bubble icon, top right, for 1-on-1 chat with individual students.

      Sign Attendance

      An activity item inside the course (separate from the Zoom-specific report). Configure it from the ⋮ menu → Edit settings.

      Know which tool is for what: Announcements for broadcasts, Forums for discussion, Messaging for individual conversations. Using the wrong one is the most common cause of "I told the class but nobody saw it."
